Martinis are the obvious choice for a James Bond themed cocktail, and you’ll have to offer a classic martini for the purists, but mix it up with a few other fun and tasty options. That way everyone can get into the spirit of the evening without having to drink a straight gin martini, which is a bit of an acquired taste.
2 1/2 ounces gin
1/2 ounce dry vermouth
1 or 3 olives for garnish
Orange or Angostura bitters (optional)
Pour the ingredients into a mixing glass filled with ice cubes.
Stir for 30 seconds.
Strain into a chilled cocktail glass.
Add a dash of orange or Angostura bitters, if desired
Garnish with an olive
For Bond movie buffs and those who want their drink a little lighter. This martini is ordered by James Bond in Casino Royale.
3 measures of Gordon’s Gin
1 measure of vodka
1/2 measure Kina Lillet (or similar dry vermouth)
Lemon peel for garnish
The Vesper according to Ian Fleming and James Bond:
“Three measures of Gordon’s, one of vodka, half a measure of Kina Lillet. Shake it very well until it’s ice-cold, then add a large thin slice of lemon peel. Got it?”
-Casino Royale, Chapter 7
Tastes great and gives you that kick you need for just a few more hands of poker.
2 ounces vodka
1 ounce very strong drip brewed coffee or espresso
1/2 ounce Kahlua
3 coffee beans
Combine the vodka, drip coffee and Kahlua in a cocktail shaker with ice. Shake and strain into a martini glass and garnish with the coffee beans.
