Cocktails

While many people were fine with simple martinis and scotch in the 70s, the cocktails most associated with the era are a little more complicated and fun, and usually involved juices, syrups or crème de liqueurs. Health was not the point. Encourage your guests to indulge with one (or more) or these signature cocktails.

Harvey Wallbanger

3/4 ounce vodka
1 1/2 ounces orange juice
1/4 ounce Galliano
Orange slice for garnish
Maraschino cherry for garnish

Directions: Pour the vodka and orange juice into a Collins glass with ice cubes. Add the Galliano. Garnish with the orange slice and maraschino cherry.

Grasshopper

3/4 ounce cream
3/4 ounce white creme de cacao
3/4 ounce green creme de menthe

Directions: Pour the ingredients into a cocktail shaker with ice cubes. Shake well. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass.

Tequila Sunrise

4 ounces orange juice
2 ounces tequila
1/2 ounce grenadine
Orange slice for garnish
Maraschino cherry for garnish

Directions: Pour the tequila and the orange juice into a highball glass with ice cubes.

Stir. Slowly pour the grenadine around the inside edge of the glass, it will sink and slowly rise to mix with the other ingredients naturally. Garnish with the orange slice and cherry.
